Something to Watch - Y2K

If you watched the trailer to Megalopolis earlier this week and thought to yourself, “holy shit what is this” and “wait, where did it go?” the reason you can’t find it is because it’s been removed from the internet after they made a big oopsie in lying about some of the info in it. But worry no more, because the same day that came out, a gem, and a total sleeper of another trailer came out as well.

Kyle Mooney’s directorial debut, Y2K looks awesome. It basically looks like genre bending Superbad during a Y2K apocalypse. Starring all of the people you’ve seen in other movies or shows but likely can’t name (aside from Rachel Zegler), it follows a group of high schoolers having a party on new years. BUT, instead of a normal night of trying and failing to make a move on your crush, there’s one more hill to climb - the tech apocalypse. The male lead, Jaeden Martell plays a nerd trying to get a midnight kiss from the girl of his dreams, Rachel Zegler, if only he can avoid getting murdered by a computer mouse. High School is hard, and life can be harder, but sometimes it just takes the end of the world to realize it’s only the beginning for you.
