Something to Watch - Born on the Fourth of July

Oliver Stone has a lot of opinions. Perhaps, most famously, he’s not a fan of the Vietnam War. All of these thoughts and more are shared in his film, Born on the Fourth of July. We can’t lie, it’s a tough watch, and not just because it’s the ugliest Tom Cruise has ever been on camera, but possibly because of how incredibly timely this remains. Cruise plays an All-American, eager to join the Marines and fight in Vietnam. Of course, the horrors he’s exposed to quickly changes everything in his life in a major, major way. The film spans years and goes in directions you would never guess. It’s an emotional and difficult ride, but a rewarding and classic watch nonetheless.
